Band Booster Notes ...

Dear Band Boosters:

Three separate notes follow:

1. I would like to pass along a heartfelt, sincere “thank you” to all who supported our band-mate Tierra Hardin and her family as they went through the difficult time of the wake and funeral for Jewell this weekend. Keep up the good work looking out for them, and keep them in your thoughts and prayers. I am proud to be associated with such giving, caring people. Carin has a special note of thanks as well:

Sincere thanks to all of you who rallied behind the Hardin/Williams family to supply a meal for 200 people with only three days notice! I’m so grateful that Pam and Tierra didn’t have to worry about the food part of Saturday’s events. Ultimately, there were nearly 300 people in attendance but many other people brought food as well and there seemed to plenty. The news about the Superior rating at VBODA brought a beaming smile to Tierra’s face! A special thanks to Carol Bayne, who accompanied me to the repast – you’re an angel and I truly appreciate all that you did. Also, kudos and gratitude to Ed Bayne for dropping everything and spending an entire evening to create the sign-up site so that we had an organized way to handle the affair on such short notice. We have so many generous, hard-working, dedicated people in this organization and I can’t say enough how much I appreciate all of you!

In Gratitude,
Carin

2. Finding the good after a tragedy is often difficult, and getting solace after Tierra’s sister’s accident is one of those times for many of us. Elizabeth Fraser sent the following message last week, and I provide if for your consideration. Hopefully you can provide some type of input or support as the students make their voices heard in the community – I’ve already let Elizabeth know that I am fully on board for my own personal part:

Some of the students in Government class are interested in supporting an effort to create local political pressure for building sidewalks near the High School (much needed). As background to that, they might need to ask for public information on (for example) number of pedestrian accidents within 2 miles of the WSHS entrances etc. The Prince William Police Department probably has this information, but might need a sponsor for the young people to request it. It can be separated from identifying information (names of people involved) to keep it clean of ongoing disputes etc. The Band Boosters could make a statement of support for something like this or back up the students who request information. Let me or Rose know if you think there is interest or other students who might like to be active in this.
I think this would be a really worthwhile effort.

Warm regards,
Elizabeth Fraser

3. This Thursday, 1 NOV is the monthly Band Boosters meeting, and as a teaser/trailer for what we’ll discuss, we have:

· Senior Night for the Marching Band/Guard members on 9 NOV at the final home football game
· the Santa Parade and Booster Auction on Saturday, 10 NOV
· the end of Marching Band Season banquet and awards ceremony
· the Spring Concert Trip

As always, I look forward to having you there to provide valuable input, have your ideas heard, and just to have you gain a personal update on your Band Boosters organization. We continue to have a vibrant, growing organization with a multitude of activities to support, and all of it is valuable for the Band Students/Guard Members. Viking Pride!

Very respectfully,
Tom Sands

With Sadness ...

Dear Band Booster Family:

With deepest regret and sympathy for the family, I am sorry to write that Tierra Hardin's sister Jewell passed away as a result of her injuries last week. The Band Boosters will support Tierra and her mom, Pam Williams, to our utmost. We have a number of very helpful individuals who already have stepped forward with great assistance, and personally I am very grateful to them.

Very respectfully,
Tom Sands

Spirit Wear for Sale!

All Band Boosters:

Gaye DeCesare will be on hand (tomorrow) Saturday, 21 September, from 12 Noon until 2:30 PM to sell the black "Show Shirts" that the marching band students wear this season. There are a limited number of section-shirts (Percussion, Woodwind, Brass, etc.), but there are a good number of generic shirts in a variety of sizes. Come early for best selection, $10 each!

Also, as a "coming attraction" (better than the Halo 3 release!), we have the new Viking Band polo shirts coming on line soon, and Gaye will be seeking pre-orders at a discounted rate. Exact details To Be Published (TBP), so stay tuned to find out how to get yours at a great rate. You'll be sure to get your exact color and size with the pre-order.

Viking Pride!

Hello to All,

The Woodbridge High School Band is kicking off its Fresh Florida Citrus Sale. You may choose from navel oranges, juice oranges, tangelos, and red grapefruit. There is a "triple charmer" package that includes navel oranges, grapefruits, and apples (12 each). I need all orders and money returned no later than 25 Oct. Shopping at Safeway and Harris Teeter!

All Band Boosters:

Thanks to those of you who have updated the records, registered your shopper club tags at local grocery stores, and then shopped to benefit the boosters - we're getting "free money" into the Band Boosters account for all musicians and support groups within the Band Booster organization to use. To those of you who may be new to the concept, John Braun (Booster point of contact for this action) explains more below.

This program is not exclusive to band personnel - if you have neighbors or friends with Safeway or Harris Teeter club cards, you can sign them up as well. It doesn't cost them anything and the boosters get the money. It's a win-win situation. Thank you in advance for all your support.

Very respectfully,
Tom Sands
Band Booster President

Website Notes:

What happened to the band photos and photo/video links that were on this web page? Click Photos/Videos and choose marching band season. After marching band activities are listed at the bottom of each season web page.

The
marching band hat or page logo you see in the upper left hand corner (or lower) will always take you back to the band's main web page (I hope).

You can always refresh any web page by clicking the right click button of your mouse on any open space of the web page and select the "refresh" option from the menu ... this will give you the latest information for that webpage.

ALL MONEY earned from this website through advertisements go directly to the booster organization to fund activities for our band students!
